AKO was established to support organisations to grow stronger leadership, systems and communities.

Drawing on extensive experience in education leadership, regulatory practice, kaupapa Māori programme development and high-performance team environments, AKO provides strategic guidance grounded in practical experience.

The name AKO reflects the reciprocal nature of learning — where teaching and learning occur together.

A man dressed in traditional indigenous Maasai attire holding a ceremonial spear, performing on stage with an audience and a large screen in the background.
A young woman with dark hair in a ponytail, wearing a colorful patterned shirt, is sitting at a table with a plate and a water bottle in front of her, gesturing with her hands as she talks.

Our Framework

AKO operates through a three-part framework:

Arotake – review and understand
Kōkiri – initiate change
Ohu – strengthen collective capability

This approach ensures that strategy is not just developed, but implemented and sustained.
